The Canadian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka had received orders not to issue visas for any TNA parliamentarian or an individual supporting the LTTE, to enter Canada.

The South Asian Media Network said some TNA parliamentarians had been accused of entering Canada through other means sans giving prior notice to the High Commission in Colombo. The Canadian diplomat said TNA parliamentarians had been barred from entering the country after considering all these reports.
