President
Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived today (August 6) in Beijing today
upon the invitation of the Government of the People's Republic
of China. He will attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic
Games, scheduled to commence on August 8.
The
President visited the Olympic Village and met the Sri Lankan
team competing in the Games and wished the good luck at
the forthcoming sports extravaganza.
Eight Sri Lankan athletes will compete in six sports in
the 29th 2008 Summer Olympics which will continue until
Augst 24.
