Media Minister and Matara District Parliamentarian Laxshman Yapa AbeywardaneMedia Minister and Matara District Parliamentarian Laxshman Yapa Abeywardane called on Prabakaran to lay down arms and terrorist activities and enter the mainstream of politics as minister Douglas Devananda and the Chief Minister for the Eastern Provincial council have done.

Addressing a public gathering at the Warakapola Town Hall in the Dedigama electorate in support of the SLFP candidates for the forthcoming Sabaaragamuwa Provincial Council organized by Minister for Labour Relations and Human Resources Development, Athauda Seneviratne, Minister Yapa pointed out that this government was spending much more on the anti-Terrorist war and Samurdhi than the UNP government had done.

The forces were liberating the Tiger territory and providing basic facilities in the liberated areas, he said.

"It is creditable that a government fighting the terrorists is equally conscious of the needs of the people and trying to provide many welfare facilities that were not provided previously."

Minister Athauda Seneviratne called on the people to support the Governmnt and further strengthen the hand of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to bring to an end the terrorist menace and develop the country.
