On information received from a civilian, a special police investigation team conducted search operation in Karukkupane in Chilaw found a haul of high explosive this morning, August 02.

Police uncovered 400g of TNT high explosive hidden inside a pair of ladies' shoes, 1 Kg of the same explosive laden inside a metal container, two LTTE camouflage uniforms and an ammunition box buried in a jungle patch on the beach.

The Police are conducting further investigations.
