According to the finalized military report received from the battlefront said that 18 terrorists were killed and 19 others suffered injuries in yesterday's (29 August) clashes reported in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya and Welioya fronts. Six more terrorists reportedly either killed or wounded in these clashes.

In Jaffna, army snipers deployed in general area Muhamalai gunned down an LTTE terrorist ahead of own defence line during day hours yesterday. Separately, 4 more terrorists were killed when the troops launched an attack targeting LTTE bunker line in general area Nagarkovil. Meanwhile, an army soldier has made his utmost sacrifice for defending the motherland while engaged with a group of LTTE terrorists in general area Elathumadduval.

Troops operation in Kilinochchi district had fierce confrontation with the terrorists in general area Vannerikkulam. The report said 8 terrorists were killed while 5 others injured citing the ground troops. two army soldiers made their supreme sacrifices while 4 others sustained injuries. meanwhile, an army soldier laid his life on behalf of the motherland and another suffered injuries in a separate confrontation reported in the same area.

Troops of Task Force 2 operating in Palamoddai area confronted with a group of LTTE terrorists during the day hours yesterday. 5 terrorists were killed and 3 others sustained injuries due to the confrontation, the report said citing the ground troops.

Troops of 59 Division operating in Welioya front, 4 terrorists were killed while 7 others wounded due to series of clashes reported in general area Andankulam. 6 more terrorists reportedly either killed or wounded. Two soldiers also sustained injuries due to these clashes. Troops engaged in mine clearing operations in recently liberated areas unearthed 47 anti-personnel mines from Andankulam area.

Meanwhile, on information received from a civilian, troops have found a claymore mine (2Kg) along with a detonator and a piece of flexible wire length of 69m while conducting a search operation in general area Narasinghe Kovil in Trincomalee town.
