The Special Task Force (STF) personnel conducted a snap search operation in the Kalavanchikudy area, Batticaloa arrested an LTTE leader operating in Batticaloa area identified as "Kannan" this afternoon, 28 August.

The search operation was launched just a few hours after Airmen gunned down two armed LTTE terrorists in Vellankulam in Trincomalee last night, 27 August.

Further, information elicited from the arrested LTTE leader led to the recover a large quantity of warlike items including claymore mine, T-56 rounds and detonators.
