Sri Lanka Air Force MI-24 helicopters raided two LTTE strongholds at Nachchikuda in Kilinochchi and Welioya areas this morning, 27 August.

The Air Force launched the first attack around 7.00 a.m targeting an LTTE bunker line in East of Nachchikuda in support of troops of 58 Division advancing into the Kilinochchi area.

Separately, Air Force carried out another air strike observing intensified activities in bunker defences in north of Thannimuruppukulam tank in Welioya front around 11.00 a.m today. The air sorties were launched to assist the ground troops of 59 Division, Air Force sources added.
