Wanni operation continues causing more damages to LTTE; 19 killed, 32 wounded

According to the military report received from the battlefront, 19 terrorists were killed and 30 others suffered injuries due to the clashes ensued in Mullaittiuvu west, Kilinochchi south, Mullaittiuvu east and Vavuniya battlefronts yesterday, 21 August. Two more terrorists reportedly either killed or wounded, the report added.

In Mullaittiuvu west front, troops of 57 Division moving along the western borders of the Mullaittiuvu district had confronted with terrorists in Tunukkai and Mallavi areas killing 7 terrorists and injuring 5 others. Two soldiers also laid their lives for the sake of motherland while another sustained injuries during these confrontations.

In Kilinochchi south front, Troops of Task Force 1, entered into the Kilinochchi district after fully liberating the Mannar district, are now advancing further northwards along the Mannar- Pooneryn road (A-32) running along the northwestern coastal belt of the Island. Two army soldiers made their utmost sacrifice for defending the motherland while another 3 sustained injuries in a confrontation took place in general area Vannerikulam.

In Mullaittiuvu east front, troops of 59 division is the first ever Army battle formation to venture in to the Mullaittiuvu jungles are presently maneuvering along the west of the Nayaru lagoon heading towards the Mullaittiuvu town situated on the Eastern border of the district. 6 terrorists were killed and 20 others wounded in a series of clashes ensued at Andankulam in 59 Division area through out the day. 2 more LTTE terrorists reportedly either killed or wounded, the report added. Five army soldiers also sustained injuries in yesterday's clashes.

In Vavuniya front, troops of Task Force 2, 56 Division had several confrontations with LTTE terrorists in Palamoddai and Navathkulam areas respectively. 5 LTTE terrorists were killed and same number of terrorists have received injuries, the report said. One soldier also sustained injuries in the field.
