Hot on the heels of capture of Tunukkai, Uyilankulam
and the southern edge of Akkarayankulam tank, Commander
of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka flew to
Wanni Security Forces Headquarters Friday (22) morning
with a view to receiving an update on the ground realities.

ground achievements, gained by his troops in the Wanni
theater of humanitarian operations, commended General
Officer Commanders in Divisions and all soldiers on their
selfless commitment and contribution to the Nation at
this critical juncture of our history.
“I am very happy with the progress so far made
in all Wanni fronts. We are now quite close to Kilinochchi.
Though our future targets would be more challenging, I
am sure we would be able to face them. Try to maintain
the highest degree of morale among soldiers by speaking
to all of them. Let us reach our targets with determination
in the near future,” Lieutenant General Fonseka
told the gathering of Divisional and Brigade Commanders
who briefed him on current developments in respective
areas.
