Top Woman Tiger Cadres Die in Fresh Clashes

WANNI: LATEST REPORTS emanating from WANNI theater of operations Thursday (31) evening confirmed several top-rank terrorist ‘military officers’ have fallen dead as a result of confrontations that flared up in the north of KIRIIBBANWEWA and JANAKAPURA areas in WELIOYA in the past 36 hours.

A fresh round of fighting that erupted in the north of JANAKAPURA Thursday (31) afternoon at about 1.30 p.m. saw four terrorists, including LTTE’s “Lieutenant Colonel KUMAVERI THANGEAMMA” who is said to be the MULLAITHIVU leader of the LTTE’s women’s wing, were killed. Three of her armed escorts, KANTHIMANI and PUSHPARANI, MAGOLECHCHAMI also died in the confrontations that went on for about two hours.

One of the LTTE’s group leaders, ‘MADAVANI ’ was also among those who perished this afternoon’s (31) clash in the north of JANAKAPURA, WELIOYA.

Meanwhile, a seven-hour long pitched battle between valiant troops and Tiger terrorists late Tuesday (29) in the above areas incurred loss of lives to the enemy, though only three were confirmed dead at the beginning. Contrary to initial reportages, latest information has now affirmed that LTTE’s one leading woman leader, “Lieutenant Colonel KADIRAVANI” and “Captain VAGEESAN” have also died due to fire directed by the troops. On Tuesday (31) troops had to direct retaliatory fire when the terrorists in the north of WELIOYA started pounding cleared areas with artillery.
