Security forces personnel inching further towards northwards
despite the LTTE resistance inflicting maximum damage
to the enemy, the finalized military report received from
the forefront said. 27 terrorists were killed and another
18 suffered injuries due to the yesterday's, 13 August,
clashes reported in Jaffna and Wanni theaters while another
2 reportedly either killed or wounded.
In Jaffna, army snipers gunned down an LTTE terrorist
ahead of own defence line in general area Kilaly. Meanwhile,
an army soldier suffered injuries exploding an anti-personnel
mine in the same area.
In Vavuniya front, 2 soldiers of 57 Division suffered
injuries due to a separate confrontation took place in
general area Kalvilan. Troops of Task Force 2 killed 6
terrorists and injured 7 others in three separate confrontations
took place in general area Palaimoddai.
In Mannar front, troops of Task Force 1 launched a series
of attacks targeting LTTE defences in general areas Kariyalaimoddai
and Nachchikuda. 13 LTTE terrorists were killed in these
attacks while 3 soldiers received injuries due to LTTE's
retaliation.
Separately, in Welioya front, 7 terrorists were killed
and 11 more suffered injuries in confrontations ensued
in general area Andankulam, the report added. Two more
terrorists reportedly either killed or wounded, the report
said citing ground troops. One army soldier has made his
utmost sacrifice for the sake of motherland while another
4 suffered injuries due to these clashes.
Meanwhile, troops engaged in mine clearing operations
in recently liberated Andankulam areas in Welioya front
have unearthed 43 anti-personnel mines and 3 IED's
