Sri Lankan Air Force fighter jets launched successive air raids at identified LTTE resistance points located 1km east of Thunukkai in Mullaittiuvu today(August 14) at around 7.30a.m.

According to Air Force Spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara, the sorties were made in-support of the 57 Division troops now engaged in fierce fighting with LTTE over the control of Vellankulam- Mankulam trunk road.

The Air force sources confirmed that the targets were hit accurately.
