A
wonderful journey was held in Melbourne, through vibrant watercolor
figures and dark moody prints, at Flinders Lane Gallery recently.
The
artist, Juli Haas, is an award winning Melbourne born painter/printmaker
and has work in collections, galleries and books all around the
world including America, England and Europe.
The
opening night marked the success of the show with a great turn
out of viewers keen to catch a conversation with the artist about
her work.
Juli
describes her paintings as “………figurative
with narratives running through, watercolor with intense luminous
color and a dark side”
And
encourages emerging artists to “...persevere and keep making
work”
The
signs all point to a fantastic collection. There is an incredibly
intricate artist’s book on display, and viewers are invited
to white-glove through the pages and marvel at the amazing lace
textures.
July’s
next show in Australia will be in 2009.
Everyone
should see this exhibition, especially if you enjoy warming up
a grey winter morning with colour.
