Troops while conducting a search operation in the General Area Messalai, Jaffna, uncovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) trapped to a night vision yesterday (22) around 7.30p.m.

Army officials said C4 high explosives weighing 500g were fitted to a night vision in an attempt to lure the troops to trigger the explosion. The disaster was averted due to the vigilance of troops although the search operation was conducted at night.
