The Sri Lanka Police Department is to establish more than 50 additional police stations in east, upon the successful clearing of the Thoppigala, to which the new recruitments are needed.

According to the Police Department the police have already taken measures to set up three police stations in Vakarai, Vayunativu and Kokkatticholai. Accordingly the police will give priority in setting up new police stations in newly cleared areas in Batticoloa district.

Two more police stations and 25 police posts are to be set up soon in the district while 5 new police stations and 9 police posts in the Trincomalee district and 2 police stations and 8 police posts in the Ampara district also will be established soon.
