Making
a special announcement in the Parliament today (08), and
clarifying the controversial rumors appearing in the local
media People’s Liberation Front (JVP) propaganda secretary
and MP Wimal Weerawansa admitted that he has been suspended
from his party membership following a decision of the Central
Committee of the JVP.
He said that the decision reached by the Central Committee
of the Party to this effect will be announced immediately
after the Eastern elections, probably on a day after May
10.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the Central Committee
decision Mr. Weerawansa said that such an action would
not please the members of the party but the will and wish
of external evil forces aiming at dividing the nation.
He questioned as to why he was expelled from the party.
Recalling his student life as an activist of the JVP political
movement, Mr. Weerawansa said that twenty years ago he
scarified opportunities for higher education for the betterment
of the party he represented. He said that noting was done
by him to breach neither the trust nor the betraying of
the party.
According to Mr. Weerawansa he did not bear any party
responsibility now and he was not informed by the party
of his future carrier with JVP. He stated that shooting
within was more painful than being shot from outside.
Mr. Weerawansa accused several party members for conspiring
to sack him and said that he was committed to perfume
duties assigned to him by the party at each and every
occasion.
In his emortional announcement in parliament Mr. Weerawansa
said that it is with great regret he accepted this decision
and added that he would remain committed to the success
of the nation.
