8 terrorists killed in clashes: Wanni ops, continue

At least 8 terrorists were killed and similar numbers injured in clashes erupted between troops and LTTE yesterday (April 4), security sources said.

According to MCNS reports, 4 LTTE terrorists were killed in confrontations with SLA in general area Andankulama, Welioya, while two others were reported killed separately in Janakpura.

Meanwhile, two soldiers were reported wounded due to AP mine explosions in Puliyankulama and Parayakulama areas in Mannar, security sources said.

Also LTTE terrorists suffered heavy beating by troops during confrontations erupted in the wee hours in Muhamalai, Jaffna. Troops said that 7 LTTE bunker defences were destroyed during the attacks mounted ahead of the forward LTTE defences in Muhamalai.

In the Mannar front, air force MI- 24 helicopters raided an LTTE mortar gun position yesterday around 12.30p.m., in the general area Andankulam, Mannar.

Later it revealed through intercepted LTTE communication that 2 terrorists were killed and eight were injured in the attack.

MCNS also reported that, a total of 218 AP were recovered by troops during search operations conducted in general area North Janakapura, Welioya.
