Naval
troops conducting a midnight search operation apprehended
three fibre glass dinghies (FGDs) loaded with cement bags
set to be transferred into the un-cleared areas at the Sirithoppu
Beach in Thalaimannar in late night yesterday. April 02.
There
were 55 bags of cement, each containing 50 kilograms.
Two
FGDs were in 18 feet in long while the other was 19 feet
long and each was fitted with an Out Board Motors (OBM)
of 15 Horse Power and 9.9 Horse Power.
It
is well-known fact that the LTTE is in desperate need of
cement and building materials to put up fortifications and
bunkers at present. The vigilance of the naval troops has
been able to thwart many such smuggling attempts by the
terrorists and their cohorts.
