According the latest reports reached from the Mannar front this evening, 9 LTTE cadres were killed in clashes occurred through out the day, April 18.

Troops have launched an attack at LTTE bunker line in general area north of Parappakandal during early hours today. Five LTTE bunkers were destroyed and 300 m area has been captured by the security forces, the latest report said. By intercepting LTTE radio communication it is revealed that at least 4 LTTE terrorists were killed in this attack. 20 anti-personnel mines, 7 booby traps, 4 Arul bombs, an I-Com set and food items left away by the fleeing terrorists were also found. Two army soldiers suffered injuries as it is reported.

Meanwhile, 3 LTTE cadres were gunned down by the army snipers deployed in general areas Thirukethishwaram and Pallaiperumalkaddu this morning.

Separately, troops attacked LTTE bunker line in the Thirukethishwaram area and troops confirmed that 2 LTTE cadres were killed in this attack. An army soldier suffered injuries due to LTTE retaliation, the sources said.
