A
2.5 kg weighing time bomb was found and defused immediately
by security forces personnel and Panwila Police during a
combined search operation conducted at the Kelebokke area
in Panwila - Kandy this evening (April 17).
According
to Panwila Police sources, the bomb laden with C-4 high
explosives was found whilst set to explode a transformer
inside a tea factory. "It was set to explode at mid-night
today and probably this is a sabotage attempt by LTTE operatives",
Police sources said speaking to defence.lk.
Extensive
search operations were conducted in the area following the
destruction of 2 high power transformers in Yakagahawewa
and Panwila yesterday night. According to Panwila Police
the transformers were distributing electricity to 25,000
households in the area. |
