The need of the government to arrest
JVP Parliamentarian for Trincomalee District Jayanthe Wijesekera
is to sabotage the function of the JVP at the Eastern Provincial
Council elections says Member of the Political Bureau of
the JVP and Parliamentarian Vijithe Herath.
Speaking
further Mr. Herath said, “There is no tradition
that the Parliamentarians of the JVP use vehicles privately.
MPs use vehicles registered in other’s names as
well.
Parliamentarian
Jayanthe Wijesekera has informed the security authorities,
put an entry in the relevant book and taken the vehicle
and handed it over to the party head office. He has entered
this in the police record as well. Hence it could not
be termed as a hi-jacking,” said Mr. Herath.
Mr.
Herath said, “It is very clear that the aim of the
government of arresting Mr. Wijesekera is to sabotage
the election programme of the JVP in the Eastern Province.”
