Two soldiers and a civilian killed in Sri Lanka when elite police mistakenly targets Army troops

Ampara: Two soldiers were killed and another was injured when police Special Task Force (STF) personnel had mistakenly targeted a Sri Lanka Army jungle patrol yesterday afternoon in the Komari – Sangaman Kanda area in Ampara district.

According to the defense sources a civilian had also been killed in the crossfire.

Police sources said, the bodies of the soldiers have been handed over to the Army while the civilian victim has not been identified yet. The STF personnel involved with the incident are to be produced before the magistrate court of Akkaraipattuwa today, the sources added.
