The
Government will not waver in its determination to fight
terrorism to the end, President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared
yesterday.
Speaking
at the launch of the Central Bank's 2007 Annual Report in
Colombo, President Rajapaksa said the LTTE's atrocities
would harden the Government's resolve to eliminate terrorism.
"The
LTTE killed several Ministers and MPs this year. Minister
Jeyaraj Fernandopulle was the latest victim. But the terrorists
will be sadly mistaken if they think that we could be driven
into submission through these acts. Far from it, we will
be even more determined to wipe out terrorism from this
land," he asserted.
He
said the Government has been able to record an impressive
economic growth despite the challenge posed by terrorism
and the global economic problems. It would continue the
campaign against terrorism while developing the country.
