Melbourne On it's twelfth trip to Sri Lanka after Tsunami 2004, the Australia Sri Lanka Medical Aid Team conducted a general medical clinic at Kushil Gunasekera's Foundation of Goodness at Seenigama. The picture shows Dr. Sian Hughes - paediatrician - assisted by Shiranee Sinnathamby and Nalini Joseph - seeing one of the 400+ patients booked in for that day. The medical clinic on Tuesday 20th March commenced at 9 am and concluded after 4pm on a hot and humid day. Apollo Hospitals Colombo provided a medical officer and ambulance to assist at the clinic. Dr. Jennifer Johns and Dr. Quintus de Zylva also assisted. Kushil Gunasekera - Founder and Trustee of the Foundation of Goodness at Seenigama - had this to say : " We would like to extend our thanks for dedicating precious time from your busy schedule to visit our village and for spending time with the villagers. The compassion and concern you showed them through your medical care is truly remarkable. Your visit has made a significant impact on the village and the lives of the villagers who have been uplifted in ways unimaginable". David Cruse was responsible for the arrangements at Seenigama and his tireless enthusiasm and compassion for those less fortunate than ourselves has been a shining light in the work AusLMAT does in Sri Lanka.
Kushil Gunasekera provided a hearty lunch when the team had a break from the consultations. |
