David and Patricia Barker of the Patricia Rose Foundation for StreetKids in Sri Lanka were hosts to a packed Egg Hopper Nite at "Colombo" in Dandenong on Friday 27th.

David and Patricia are members of AusLMAT and work with Father Ivan at Negombo amongst the street kids of the area. They have 13 children enrolled with the Foundation and provide them with clothes, school books etc. Three boys have been enrolled at the Don Bosco College and one has already passed a certificate examination in outboard engine repairs and now has full time employment.

David and Patricia will return to Negombo in October this year. Sponsors are needed to assist more children learn a trade and become independent. Please ring 0414914893 or 0407565530 for more information on the sponsorship program.

The United Nations has got behind this project and have made a grant to build 14 houses for these children who live on the bank of a canal in Negombo.

Ryle was MC for the egg-hopper nite and thanked all those present including Padmini who did a grand job with the food. Kanishka Alvitigala was a special guest - he is a Sri Lankan cricketer who is here for shoulder surgery to be done by David Young. Radio station 3AW was represented by Jay Mueller and his wife Michelle. Jay was with us on the initial Qantas charter flight to Sri Lanka soon after Tsunami 2004 struck and has since then been a great supporter of the work we have done in Sri Lanka.
