"We only activated the air defence weapon system but no reports on air craft detection on air defence Radars" air force media spokesman Group Captain Ajantha Silva told defence.lk this evening.
Explaining the yesterday's incident at Katunayake air force base Group Captain Silva told that earlier reports published on the defence website should be altered since there was no detection of suspicious air move has been reported.
"It was only an information about sighting of two-three aircraft in Puttlama sky that prompted the air force to activate the air defence system and it was not limited for Katunayaka airbase" he further added.
Speaking further he told that the air force is now ready to meet any aerial threat that might be come form the LTTE terrorists.
"Our men as well as our weapons are at the highest state of readiness to meet any air threat coming from terror aircraft" he said.
Commenting on the emergency landing of Mi-24 helicopter at Anuradhapura air base, Group Captain Silva told that it was due to a technical failure. He further said that no substantial damage to the helicopter has caused due to the yesterday's "forced landing" of the helicopter gunship.
