SLAF super sonic MIG-27 fighters, and K'fir jets pounded on an identified LTTE training facility with precision strikes at Wattappalai, south of Puthukkudiyiruppu in the un-liberated Mullativu district at 09.45a.m, today(17).

The SLAF sorties were made on a pre-identified LTTE terrorist target. According to Air Force officials, air visuals obtained from the attack site confirmed simultaneous explosions occurring from the identified LTTE training base.

Intelligence sources said that LTTE terrorists have cut-off communications between terrorist circles immediately following the SLAF air raid. Military sources said that the sustained damages by the LTTE were yet to be evaluated, though the facility was confirmed to be destroyed into rubbles.

Defence sources said that the LTTE Vanni leadership has maintained a static silence over the attack, which might have inflicted greater losses to the outfit than expected.
