SL Security forces advancing, following comprehensive victories over LTTE dominated territory in the East

The Military spokesperson was quoted expressing hopes of re-opening the A-5 Chenkaladdy- Maha-Oya main road to the general public following the progressive de-mining operations in the area.

The security forces secured the A-5 main road after 14 years, on 11th April. The Military Spokesperson Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe said that, the de-mining activities were presently underway in the recently liberated eastern area.

Meanwhile, the sources also added that the security forces were engaged in limited operations neutralizing potential LTTE threats in the area. The SL Army is advancing further, securing the area after handing over the control to government administrative authorities for rebuilding infrastructure and resettlement of the thousands displaced.
