(LeN-2007April 10, 7.30pm) Kosgoda police say that at least 23 have been killed another 50 injured in a road accident that occurred in Induruwa, Kosgoda this morning.

The mishap occurred when a container truck transporting beer and a bus collided and immediately caught fire.

Among the deceased are 8 women and three children and majority of the dead are burnt beyond recognition.

Speaking to LeN a spokesperson of the Balapitiya hospital said 23 of the injured are in serious condition.

The injured are being treated at the Balapitiya and Karapitiya hospitals.
